About the Authors

Dr. Ronald D. Siegel is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychology at Harvard Medical School where he has taught for the past 25 years. In 1988, he was disabled by back pain. His personal experience led him to develop the treatments described in this book. He is also coeditor of Mindfulness and Psychotherapy (Guilford, 2005) and maintains a private practice in Lincoln, Massachusetts specializing in the treatment of chronic pain.

Michael H. Urdang is a qualitative market research consultant. He holds an M.Ed. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. His bout with chronic back pain was resolved using the methods in this book. He currently lives in Arlington, Massachusetts.

Dr. Douglas R. Johnson is a physician and board-certified specialist in physical medicine and rehabilitation. He is the medical director of the inpatient rehabilitation unit at Charlton Memorial Hospital and also maintains a private practice in physiatry. He lives in South Dartmouth, Massachusetts.
